Who Has the Better Shrimp Po’boy?

A lot of people that live in the deep southern part of Louisiana have eaten at or at least heard of Kenner Seafood. Kenner Seafood sells fresh and live seafood, but also has dine in eating. They have an extensive menu of favorite Louisiana seafood dishes. Not interested in seafood? Don’t worry, they have you covered with chicken and pasta dishes. The seating area is the perfect environment for a Louisiana style seafood restaurant, especially the outdoor seating. The service was also excellent!

Kenner Seafood

Mabile’s is one the most popular places to eat in LaPlace, LA. when it comes to po’boys. It’s local and they serve great food. Not to mention their prices fit most budgets.

One of the downsides of Kenner Seafood is that you can’t order a Half & Half (half shrimp and half oyster in this case) on a bun. You can only order it on French bread, which I wasn’t expecting since Mabile’s offers it.

Recently, I ate a fried shrimp po’boy (on a bun, not French bread) from Kenner Seafood. So, the question is, who has the better fried shrimp po’boy (on a bun, not French bread… just to clarify here… haha) between the two restaurants? Let’s weigh the sandwiches out!

Mabile’s: Large sesame seed bun, shrimp aren’t overly cooked, sandwich is plentifully stuffed and it’s budget friendly. The downside is that once in a while the shrimp can be too greasy.

Kenner Seafood: Small bun and shrimp are perfectly cooked. It’s a little greasy but not too much. Side note: Try their onion rings! Droolworthy at best.

Tough choice! Overall, Mabile’s is my favorite but both restaurants serve a very good fried shrimp po’boy {on a bun!).
