Season 1 and 2 of the streaming series Cobra Kai has been out for a long while. Recently, I binged both seasons. If you’re like me then you didn’t realize that it was a sequel to the Karate Kid movies. I thought it was just another miscellaneous show to shelf for later. Oh, how very wrong I was.
The series takes place 34 years after the original Karate Kid movie. Don’t start thinking too negatively on that idea yet! Two of the original main cast members, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, are also main cast members in Cobra Kai with their rivalry fierce as ever. This time around they aren’t kids. They have their own adult lives with real adult problems.
In an attempt to keep things spoiler free, I’ll leave out all of the action packed and blossoming details. In Cobra Kai we get to see a lot of things from Johnny Lawrence’s point of view. Don’t worry, there is plenty of screen time with and for Daniel LaRusso as well.
Cobra Kai was originally a YouTube Premium series. After running for 2 seasons Netflix bought the streaming rights as well as the entire series. Cobra Kai is 100% owned by Netflix now. Season 3 is set to release January 8th, 2021. Aside from that, season 4 is already in development as well!
If anyone remembers what happened to Lucifer when Netflix took it over then it will most likely be a safe bet that Netflix is going to do some amazing things with Cobra Kai! Season 2 of Cobra Kai ended with one of the biggest cliffhangers that I have seen as of late. Nail biting, jaw dropping, cliff hanging. For those of you that have seen both seasons so far, get those onegaishimasu (a request to take care of, etc.) prayers out!
Until next time…
