2022 Empties Dump

It’s that time of the year again! The infamous yearly dump of empties post from so many bloggers, including myself. Empties posts are kind of like hitting the Best Sellers filter on some retail websites. It’s not what has the most top rated reviews but rather what people buy the most. In this case, it’s all about what products were thoroughly used until the containers became empty.

It’s been a while since a yearly review of empties was posted. Remember the 2020 Self Care Empties post?

  • Nyx Juice Lip Gloss – Nyx’s Juice Lip Gloss not only hydrates but comes in multiple shades, including clear. As a member of the peeling lips club, this is hands down my favorite lip gloss so far. It doesn’t dry your lips out (hello hydration!) and it actually feels a little soothing on the lips. Advertised to be infused with 5 types of electrolytes, vegan, and cruelty free.

  • Monat Be Balanced Moisturizer – My skin is oily (combo in a couple spots), sensitive, and gets irritated easily. A lot of moisturizers that are meant for combo – oily skin usually don’t work out for me, except for a select few. My friend Connie sells Monat skincare and haircare products. She introduced me to their Be Balanced Moisturizer. It worked without making my skin oily! It’s not budget friendly but if you’re not pinching pennies then this is a great moisturizer for combo – oily skin. Message Connie on Instagram if interested.

  • L’Oreal Noir Balm Volumizing Mascara – L’Oreal hit the mark with their Noir Balm Volumizing Mascara. I’m on my third empty bottle of this gem. My eyes are extremely sensitive but this mascara doesn’t bother them. It isn’t waterproof but it doesn’t give me raccoon eyes, especially with oily lids. My lashes are short and sparse, so it definitely doesn’t give a falsies look but it does give volume. Perfect for the office. This mascara is definitely a keeper. P.S. L’Oreal’s Noir Balm Volumizing Mascara is marketed as having 99% natural ingredients. I can’t say if it’s true or not but anything on the more natural end usually gets my vote.

  • OGX Extra Strength Refreshing Scalp Shampoo – Budget has become a big factor ever since the covid pandemic started and the more recent inflation (excessive inflation much?) issues. So, I’ve been using OGX’s Extra Strength Refreshing Scalp Shampoo. It’s not Dollar General priced but much cheaper than purchasing shampoo from retailers like Sephora. This line of shampoo and conditioner work equally well. If you have scalp issues or an oily scalp in general then this shampoo might work for you. It’s packed with tea tree oil, peppermint oil, and witch hazel. Also, paraben-free and sulfate-free!

  • Thayer’s Facial Toner – I’ve been using Thayer’s Facial Toner most of my life and there’s a reason why I always go back to this brand. No sticky residue, usually calms down my facial inflammation (Maybe it’s the witch hazel?), and it has been used for more than just a facial toner (Usually unopened wounds, such as mosquito bites, for the inflammation. This is not a suggestion by any means… just what I personally do). P.S. I opt for the cucumber or lavender variety.

  • Blue Stop Max Massage Gel and Muscle Rub – Bonus empty! Blue Stop Max Massage Gel and Muscle Rub has become a staple in my house. I first discovered it at Sam’s Club but Amazon also sells it. It was the perfect replacement for me due to being allergic to Biofreeze (definitely don’t know anyone else who is… ugh). Is has the consistency of a cross between lotion and gel. Blue Stop Max also doesn’t have a strong smell like Bengay (wakeup call for the nostrils).
